Event-filled February

From the desk of the President

February 1, 2024

Hello,

“February teaches us the lesson of hope that there is a sunny day at the end of every freezing night.” – Anonymous

There is so much happening in February and March.  It’s fun to pick up the momentum and bring about some changes to the Beaufort Woman’s Club.

Punxsutawney Phil will appear, in Pennsylvania, seeking his shadow on February 2nd.  This is a much televised and notable folklore event.

Our Business Meeting will take place at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, on February 8th.  This should be a special event, with Hope Peterson as our guest speaker.  She will talk about “How to Empower Women to take control of their health.” We should all wear Red, to celebrate National Wear Red Day! Raising awareness about the heart and lungs is a way to prevent heart disease.

February 10th, “come root us on” as we participate in the Mardi Gras Parade.  We are trying to take part in more fun and civic activities.

As we all know, February 14th is Valentine’s Day. It is celebrated as a day of romance and love throughout many regions of the world.  Let us "Be kind to one another and show our love of Sisterhood."

Your Executive Board is very busy, working together with Committees on the upcoming Art Show for the Students of Carteret County. I am asking for close to 100% participation, to show our support for these talented young art students, and their families, on March 7th.  This event is free and open to the public.  Our partner, Carteret Community College Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center will help us host this event.  Wear your “Beaufort Woman’s 100-year” pins to the art show. Refreshments will be provided by the students.

Save the date, March 28th for Casino Night at the Beaufort Hotel.  This event is to benefit the Beaufort Boys and Girls Club.  I would love to see a high participation rate here too.

We won’t stop the planning, so let us know your interests.  I am available to chat, or to answer your questions, or listen to your concerns. My number is (508)769-2294.   If you require transportation to or from a meeting, please reach out to one of your VPs for assistance.

I look forward to serving you.

Thankfully yours,

Nancy Dube
